Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Paralegal with at least 2 years of experience to join our client's team in downtown Chicago. The successful candidate will be primarily involved in wrongful termination cases, working closely with attorneys to support litigation efforts, client communication, and legal research. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of employment law, specifically wrongful termination, and possess strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Preparation & Management: Assist attorneys in preparing wrongful termination cases from inception through trial, including managing case files, organizing evidence, and coordinating depositions.
- Legal Research & Drafting: Conduct in-depth research on wrongful termination laws, statutes, and case precedents. Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
- Client Interaction: Maintain communication with clients, providing status updates and responding to inquiries. Prepare clients for depositions and hearings.
- Document Management: Review, organize, and manage discovery documents, employment contracts, termination records, and other relevant materials.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years working as a paralegal, preferably in employment law, with a focus on wrongful termination or labor law cases.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of wrongful termination laws and employment statutes (FMLA, ADA, Title VII, etc.).
- Proficient in legal research tools (LexisNexis, Westlaw) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and client management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with e-discovery tools and case management software.
- Knowledge of Chicago area courts and legal procedures.
